Bitterroot Valley Community College Online Discussion Forums

Thanks to Bighorn Solutions of Darby, those wishing to discuss issues related to the BVCC effort now have the opportunity to do so via a publicly accessible, online discussion forum.  The forum is set-up as a threaded discussion, whereby participants can both pose questions and reply to questions – with questions known as threads and replies known as posts.  Threaded discussions are the primary tool of online learning and are technically known as "asynchronous discussions."  For more on the threaded discussion format, visit Wikipedia's entry on internet forums.

In order to participate in the BVCC online discussion forums you must first become a registered user of Bighorn Solutions' Darby Commons' forum page. Click here to register.

Once you have registered as a Darby Commons' forum participant, you have the option of joining several BVCC forums (discussion areas) — General Information, Questions for the Trustees, Questions for the Steering Committee, and/or Questions for the Foundation.

We look forward to your questions and posts.  The more input from the public on the BVCC effort the better served we will all be by the proposed college.

A few tips for those new to the threaded discussion format:

  • Treat others with respect and courtesy, as you would want to be treated.
  • Observe the basic rules of Netiquette (Internet etiquette).
  • Listen carefully and reflect upon the message before responding.
  • Respect diversity of opinions.
  • Say something precise that adds to the discussion, including questions that are answerable and not purely speculative.
  • Do not attack any of your peers for their ideas, but wrangle with the ideas directly.
  • Review your response before posting it to the community.
  • Label all postings with the main point you are trying to make—your subject line should reflect your main idea.

We remind all forum participants that the discussions are moderated in order to ensure civil and
considerate dialogue.  Writers of inappropriate posts will be warned before being denied forum access.
